The class must match your commercial experience. BPC will assess the projects, your personal role, the knowledge and qualification requirements, and any technical referee reports required for the application.

Unlimited or a defined limited class?
Commercial Builder Unlimited covers broad commercial building responsibility. Limited classes cover a narrower area, such as low rise, medium rise, fit-out or another specified type of commercial work.

What did you manage and decide?
A title such as supervisor or project manager is not enough on its own. Project evidence should show what was built, your role, the work stages and the decisions you made.

Who can confirm your experience?
Each class has its own knowledge and qualification requirements. For applications requiring a technical referee report, BPC requires the referee to be registered in the same commercial builder class or a higher class and to verify the relevant work using the appropriate class-specific report.

What happens during BPC assessment?
BPC’s assessment process is changing. Follow the exam or further information instructions issued for your class and application rather than assuming every applicant completes the same interview.
