What the application needs

What has to line up for QBCC mutual recognition.

Queensland does not use the national AMR shortcut in the same way as participating states. QBCC mutual recognition depends on the current interstate or New Zealand licence and the equivalent Queensland scope.

01

Current interstate or NZ licence

QBCC describes mutual recognition as a process for a person licensed in another state, territory or New Zealand to be licensed in Queensland to perform the same work.

02

Equivalent QBCC class

If there is no QBCC licence equivalent to the interstate or New Zealand licence, QBCC states it will not be able to issue a Queensland licence.

03

Restrictions and conditions

QBCC mutual recognition forms state that conditions or restrictions on the original licence must be imposed on the Queensland licence, and QBCC may impose further conditions after assessment.

04

Scope before quoting

The recognised class should be checked against the work you intend to contract or supervise in Queensland before you rely on it.

How BLS helps

Where BLS fits.

We help interstate and New Zealand licence holders check the QBCC equivalent pathway before they apply.

Practical support

You bring the experience. BLS carries the application work with you.

Review your current licence class, scope, restrictions and expiry.
Map the likely QBCC equivalent class and identify where scope may not transfer cleanly.
Organise application documents and supporting licence evidence.
Flag whether a new QBCC application, upgrade or narrower recognition pathway is more practical.

Who this is for

Interstate builders and trades moving work into Queensland.
New Zealand licence holders checking the QBCC equivalent.
Existing licence holders whose conditions or restrictions need careful mapping.

When another service may fit better

Applications that need legal, financial or disciplinary advice outside BLS’s service.
Situations where the required work history, qualifications or records cannot be provided.
Independent support

QBCC decides every application.

BLS focuses on what we can control: the right class, clear evidence and properly prepared application material. QBCC assesses the application and makes the final decision.
